Pamlico County Murder Plea
Tuesday, August 3rd 2010
Mark Grady pled guilty to second degree murder, in the November 2008 murder of his girlfriend, Jacqueline Harvey. Grady killed the young mother of three, while his own children were at home. The judge sentenced him to 18 to 22 years in prison, with credit for time served. Investigators said Grady slammed Harvey's head into the floor several times, put her body in her bed ... then called his mother for help. The couple shared their Bayboro home with five children -- three of which were Harvey's. Deputies said Grady's two children, who were five and seven at the time, were at home when the killing took place. The victim's mother -- Martha Gilbert -- said she hoped Grady would get a life sentence. "I don't think he got enough time," Gilbert said. "I feel like he should have got a lot longer, 'cause he can still get out and have a life of his own with his children...while my grandchildren have to go to a graveyard and visit their mother." Gilbert told Newschannel 12 that Grady thought Harvey was cheating on him, and that's why he killed her. Posted by Valentina Wilson
