Dorothy Vendrick Lupton, 78, died on December 21, 2002, window of Benjamin Waldo Lupton, Jr., of James Island, South Carolina. A funeral service was held Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at 11 am in the First Christian, Disciples of Christ Church, 1293 Orange Grove Road in Charleston, SC 29407. Burial was in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Lupton was born in Arapahoe, NC, daughter of James Vincent and Florence Scott Vendrick. She was a member of First Christian Church. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Conrad (Art) of Charleston, SC, Susanne Lemke (Wray) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Betsy Lupton of James Island, SC; two sons, George Earl Taylor of Stonewall, NC and William V. Taylor of Hamlet, NC; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Elbert Vendrick of Oriental, NC; and one sister, Becky Cahoon of Arapahoe, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Benjamin Waldo Lupton, Jr. and one son, Benny Lupton. (The Pamlico News [Oriental, NC] - December 2002)
