      Gladys Lupton Smith, 82, of Beaufort, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Morehead City.

      Her service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Island United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darcy officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Island Community Cemetery.

      Gladys was a wife, mama, grandmama, great grandmamas and best cook ever! She dedicated her life to spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the ?loves of her life.?

      She is survived by her husband, Eldon Smith Jr.; daughter, Donna Gillikin and fiancé James Pullen of Beaufort; son, Rodney Smith and wife Karen of Cedar Island; brother, Julian Lupton of Beaufort; three grandchildren, Alicia Cole and husband James, Casey Smith and fiancé Kevin Styron and Isaiah Smith and wife Maggie; four great-grandchildren Kayla and Kendall Cole, Nathaniel Styron and Emory Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlotte and Elmer Lupton and sister, Madeline Morris.

      Visitation will be one hour before the service.

      The family would like to thank the staff of Crystal Bluffs and especially Jo.

      Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Cedar Island Cemetery Fund in care of Ellen Goodwin.
