      Geneva Carolyn Lupton Skipper, 79, of Chestertown, Md., formerly of Sea Level, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at home.

      Her memorial is at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at Sea Level Missionary Baptist Church in Sea Level. Burial will follow at the Nelson Bay Cemetery.

      Carolyn was born on Sept. 3, 1934, daughter of the late John Wallace Lupton and Geneva Salter Lupton. She was raised in Sea Level and graduated from Sea Level High School in 1952. She moved to Washington, D.C., at 18 years old and worked for C&P Telephone Co., then Zayre?s for 30 years before retiring in 2002. She worked for Weight Watchers during her retirement and enjoyed the Red Hat Society women?s group. She was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for Mary Higgins-Clarke. She lived in the Bowie-Crofton area before moving to Kent County in 2004.

      She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard Graham Skipper; children, Janette Cranston, Dana Mayton, Debby Skipper and Richard Skipper; sister, Brenda Joyner; brother, Richard Lupton; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald K. Razey in 1968; sister, Bernice Goodwin; and brothers, Clifton and Blanchard Lupton.

      Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life gathering 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 199 Falcon Drive, Pasadena, Md.

      In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or for pulmonary fibrosis research.
