  Notes	Confusion - the family bible notes show 2 different individuals in the family named John - John, born 5 Sep 1804 and John A, born 12 Jan 1824. The Lupton book shows just one, John Allen, born 1816. And more confusion - family bible shows Sally born 28 Oct 1814 - The Lupton books shows a Sarah (or Sally) with a birth year of 1820. Most likely the same person.

  		US census of 1840 for NC, Beaufort county, Goose Creek, page 297. Third from the bottom is the household of Josiah LUPTON. Included are two males 5-10 years old, two 10-15, one 20-30 and one 60-70. Of the females there are one 10-15 and one 40-50 years old.
  		US census of 1850 for NC, Beaufort county, Goose Creek (1). Lines 26-33 show the household of Josiah LUPTON at age 70. Included are his wife, Holland JONES along with five children. Josiah is shown to be a farmer with land holdings valued at $300.
  		US census of 1860 for NC, Hyde county, Swan Quarter post office, page 122. Lines 26-29 show the household of Josiah LUPTON at age 81. Included are his 2nd wife, Holland and two boys, ages 19 and 9
  		US census of 1870 for NC, Hyde county, Currituck township, Sladesville, page 6. Line 14 shows the household of Josiah LUPTON at 91 years of age. Included are his wife, Holland and a male by the name of John age 17. Josiah is shown to be a fisherman and their real estate and personal property are valued at $100 each.

  Josiah was the second son of Christopher Lupton. He married twice and had fifteen children. He left Cedar Island and founded the Lupton families that now live in Hyde and Pamlico counties. He was listed in the census as a fisherman.
