      HOBUCKEN - Ada Whorton Mayo, 99, died Tuesday, July 29 at Craven Regional Medical Center. A funeral service was held Saturday, August 2, 11 am, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Roach officiating with burial at New Bern National Cemetery on Monday, August 4. She retired from the Pamlico County School System after teaching 43 years and was a member of Hobucken United Methodist Church. She is survived by four nieces, Laura Warren of Chapel Hill, Mary Jarman of Washington, Hilda Watson of Hobucken and Mildred Daughtridge of Washington; two nephews, Alfred Mayo, Jr. of New Bern and Hallett Mayo of Goldsboro; several great nieces and great nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; and several great-great-great nieces and nephews.
